Rafah's emergency committee continues its periodic meetings and affirms supplying residents with 17,500 cubic meters of water daily and treating more than 14,000 cubic meters of sewage.
CMWU's Emergency Committee at the Rafah regional headquarters continued its periodic meetings today, Friday, 28 August 2020, to follow up on the continued provision of water and sanitation services to residents of Rafah city.
This comes as part of a series of coronavirus pandemic emergency plan measures following the declaration of state of emergency "C" after the emergence of coronavirus cases outside quarantine centers during the past few days.
During the meeting, the Committee evaluated the overall services carried out by the various operation teams at the Rafah regional headquarters, which are summarized in continuing to supply residents with a quantity of 17,500 cubic meters of water daily and draining and treating more than 14,000 cubic meters of sewage water, in addition to responding to more than 50 reports related to water supply and the maintenance of water and sanitation networks.
The Committee also addressed the safety and security procedures followed by the working teams while supplying quarantine centers with water and transporting more than 50 cubic meters of sewage water from the western quarantine center via tankers to the treatment plant.
These continuous efforts come amid difficult operational conditions due to the electricity outage for long hours, the shortage of fuel and financial resources, and the recent declaration of the maximum state of emergency by the relevant bodies, coinciding with an increase in demand and consumption of water due to the hot weather.
