CMWU's Emergency Committee in Rafah Discusses the Operational Challenges Facing Water and Sanitation Facilities

CMWU's Emergency Committee in Rafah discussed the operational challenges facing all water and sanitation facilities in Rafah governorate, in order to continue providing services to residents, particularly amid the declared state of emergency and the imposition of the curfew in all areas of the Gaza Strip as a result of the emergence of coronavirus cases within the community on one hand, and the power plant shutdown and the shortage of fuel supplies on the other, which have negatively affected the ability to produce and distribute water and collect and treat sewage water.
In turn, Eng. Mohammed Al-Abwaini, Director of CMWU's Rafah headquarters, affirmed that "CMWU will exert every effort, despite the exceptional circumstances the Gaza Strip is going through, to continue supplying residents with water and sanitation services in Rafah governorate," affirming the importance of intensifying efforts at this stage to achieve that goal.
In this context, Eng. Mohammed Al-Abwaini thanked Rafah Municipality's Mayor Dr. Anwar Al-Shaer for his efforts in providing a quantity of fuel to boost the operation of water and sanitation facilities in Rafah city.
