CMWU's Supreme Emergency Committee Affirms the Continuation of Following Up on All Maintenance and Operation Requests for Water and Sanitation Facilities in All Areas of the Gaza Strip

CMWU's Supreme Emergency Committee held an emergency meeting today to discuss ways to ensure the continuity of water and sanitation services in the Gaza Strip, particularly amid the escalating crises the Gaza Strip has witnessed, the latest of which was the shutdown of the power plant and the coronavirus spreading outside quarantine centers.
This meeting comes as part of a series of meetings held by the Committee, including those held at the invitation and with the participation of CMWU's Chairman of the Board of Directors Dr. Majed Abu Ramadan.
During the Committee's meeting today at CMWU's headquarters in Al-Zahra city, in the presence of CMWU's Director-General Eng. Monther Shoblaq and his deputies Eng. Maher Al-Najjar, Eng. Omar Shatat, and Mr. Mamdouh Al-Ghazali, and some directors of CMWU's various departments, the Committee's members affirmed the continuation of following up on all maintenance and operation requests for water and sanitation facilities in all areas of the Gaza Strip, amid the difficult circumstances the Gaza Strip is going through, with what is available at CMWU's warehouses, in addition to its support for the safety and precautionary measures for workers in the water and sanitation sector affiliated with CMWU and the municipalities, and its continued communication with partner institutions to secure the needs of the municipalities and CMWU's headquarters for fuel and "sodium hypochlorite" for disinfecting drinking water and supplying workers with safety and disinfection materials.
In this context, CMWU's Technical Department noted that this material is close to running out, and the importance of continuing the Utility's efforts in coordination with the Palestinian Water Authority to secure chlorine, in order to continue the drinking water disinfection program, to preserve public health and prevent any contaminant from reaching the water networks.
