Massive destruction in infrastructure and water and sanitation networks following direct Israeli bombardment of them in Al-Saftawi neighborhood and Jabalia camp at dawn today, as water and sanitation networks sustained severe damage, which led to the halt of water and sanitation services for a large number of residents.
CMWU's Director-General Eng. Monther Shoblaq stated earlier that the Utility appealed to its partners among international and relief organizations, particularly the Red Cross, to enable it to urgently repair the damage resulting from Israeli bombardment of numerous water and sanitation networks in various cities and neighborhoods of the Gaza Strip, by funding the materials and spare parts needed to repair the damage and coordinating with the Israeli side to enable CMWU's and the municipalities' maintenance teams to reach those places without exposing those teams to the risks of Israeli bombardment, and in order to restore water and sanitation services to residents affected by the service cutoff due to the bombing of water and sanitation networks, in addition to the power outage due to damage to electricity lines and the near-complete shutdown of the Gaza Strip's sole power generation plant.
