Completion of Drilling of a New Water Well in Sheikh Radwan, Gaza City, and Start of Trial Pumping

Published on

CMWU has completed the drilling of a new water well, “Catalonia,” in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of Gaza City, near Catalonia Roundabout, and has commenced trial pumping operations. The project was implemented in cooperation with Gaza Municipality and with support and funding from UNICEF.

The well is expected to contribute to improving water supplies and serve approximately 13,000 residents in the area and surrounding neighborhoods.

The project is part of CMWU’s efforts to strengthen available water sources and improve water services provided to residents, amid the major challenges facing the water sector in the Gaza Strip.

The project is being implemented amid an acute shortage of materials, equipment, and supplies required for drilling and commissioning works, in addition to restrictions on the entry of many technical requirements and spare parts. These challenges are making the implementation of water projects and the continued provision of services to residents increasingly difficult.
