CMWU Continues Maintenance of Water Lines Connected to Shoblaq Well in Al-Zahra City

CMWU, in cooperation with Al-Zahra Municipality and with support from the ICRC, continues maintenance works on the water lines connected to Shoblaq Well in Al-Zahra City. The works aim to improve network efficiency and ensure more stable water supplies for residents, displacement shelters, and vital facilities in the area.

The maintenance works began after a major leak was detected in the water network following the well’s operation. Technical teams carried out excavation and inspection works along the lines, identifying several issues and damaged sections that required the removal of affected parts and the necessary maintenance and repairs, within the available capacities.

The works included maintenance of 4-inch and 12-inch water lines extending from Shoblaq Well toward Al-Kawthar Reservoir and passing near Egyptian Camp No. 17. They also included the installation of water lines to serve the camp and improve water access for its residents.

The maintenance works are expected to improve water supplies to Egyptian Camp No. 17, which accommodates approximately 2,000 people, as well as the educational point, medical point, municipality headquarters, Wafa Medical Hospital, and several scattered displacement shelters southeast of Al-Zahra City.

The water network connected to the well currently serves approximately 6,000 beneficiaries, helping improve water access for residents, displaced people, and vital facilities across the city.

It is worth noting that Shoblaq Well was completely destroyed during the war and was subsequently rehabilitated with support from the ICRC, as part of ongoing efforts to restore and operate damaged water sources and strengthen essential water services in the area.
