CMWU, with the support of the ICRC, has launched the implementation of the Al-Manshiya Desalination Plant project in Gaza City. This marks a significant step in enhancing the supply of safe drinking water amid the difficult conditions facing the Gaza Strip, particularly in Gaza City, where water facilities have suffered extensive damage.
The project includes drilling a dedicated well for the plant, constructing two metal tanks with a capacity of 80 cubic meters each, one for storing desalinated water and the other for storing water extracted from the well. The desalination plant will have a production capacity of 37 cubic meters per hour to meet residents' drinking water needs.
This project is part of CMWU's ongoing efforts to provide safe drinking water to residents and displaced persons in Gaza, compensating for severe shortages caused by the destruction of water infrastructure during the Israeli war.
The project is expected to be completed in the coming weeks, adding a vital component to the city's water network, supporting the stability of essential services, and alleviating residents' suffering in accessing clean water.
