Continued Equipping and Construction Works on a Desalination Plant West of Khan Younis
CMWU continues carrying out equipping and construction works on a desalination plant, at its main warehouses west of Khan Younis Governorate, where this plant was disassembled and transported from Rafah Governorate under extremely dangerous and complex conditions during the Israeli incursion and continuing military operations in the governorate, funded by UNICEF.
Work is now underway on operating, testing, and calibrating the plant and preparing it for operation according to technical specifications and standards, ahead of its operation, aiming to strengthen the safe drinking water supply system for citizens and displaced persons in the various Mawasi areas west of Khan Younis, with the plant's capacity being 1,200 cubic meters per day.
The project will also include constructing and installing a gallon water filling point to serve residents and displaced persons in the areas neighboring the plant, with the number of beneficiaries from the plant expected to reach about 60,000 displaced persons.
