CMWU repaired the beach wells of the Deir al-Balah desalination plant after they were subjected to theft, and appealed for the protection of facilities.
A glimpse of the repair work carried out on the damage sustained by the beach wells of the seawater desalination plant in Deir al-Balah city, central Gaza Strip, which were subjected to theft and attack, taking them out of service and halting the desalination plant's operation due to water no longer reaching it from those wells.
CMWU calls on residents to preserve all water and sanitation facilities, which enable the water utility and municipalities to continue providing their services amid these difficult conditions, in which it is difficult to find alternatives and there is a scarcity of repair and maintenance spare parts. It also calls on police and security officials and neighborhood committees to secure protection for these facilities and prevent attacks on them, to avoid the halting of water and sanitation services, as the desalination plant that was subjected to theft is considered one of the most important sources of drinking water for the residents of the Central Governorate and those displaced to it, particularly amid the current conditions and the continuing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
