CMWU, in partnership with Oxfam, began extending branch lines from the Emirati line to serve Rafah and Khan Younis Mawasi, benefiting 28,000 people.
CMWU, in partnership with Oxfam, began implementing works to construct branch drinking water lines extending from the Emirati line, aiming to improve water access to the Rafah and Khan Younis Mawasi areas.
This intervention comes as a continuation of ongoing efforts to expand the benefit from the Emirati line, and enable water to reach a larger number of camps and population centers located about 500 meters from Al-Rasheed Street, which have suffered from water scarcity and difficulty of supply during the past period.
It is worth noting that this line receives desalinated water from the Emirati desalination plant established on the Egyptian side, which was completed during the past period with support from the United Arab Emirates and in cooperation with Operation Al-Fares Al-Shahm 3.
At least 28,000 people in the target areas are expected to benefit from this phase, contributing to strengthening the continuity of safe drinking water supply to residents and displaced persons, as part of the Utility's and its partners' efforts to ease humanitarian burdens and strengthen citizens' resilience.
