Beginning the Operation of the North Gaza Desalination Plant
Gaza / CMWU
CMWU began the actual operation of the North Gaza water desalination plant after completing the electricity connection works, with the desalinated water to be pumped to some areas of Gaza city, in coordination and cooperation with Gaza Municipality, with the plant's production capacity being about 10,000 cubic meters/day of high-quality desalinated water, which would bring about a qualitative shift in improving the quality of water provided to these areas.
It is worth noting that the desalination plant north of Gaza city was constructed by CMWU in cooperation with the Water Authority, with generous support from the Kuwait Fund for Development through the Islamic Development Bank, at a total cost estimated at $15 million.
CMWU assures residents of the quality of the water and its compliance with the standards approved at the Palestinian and international levels for human and household use, and urges them on the necessity of preserving this important water source by rationalizing consumption and committing to paying the water bill, in order to ensure the continuation of providing the service at the required quality and quantity.
