CMWU began implementing the project "Constructing a Sanitation Network in Al-Orouba Neighborhood in Al-Fukhari, East of Khan Younis Governorate, South of the Gaza Strip", with this project including installing sanitation networks 3.5 kilometers long and 300 household connections, coming in cooperation with the Water Authority and Al-Fukhari Municipality, funded by the Kuwait Fund for Development through the Islamic Development Bank, and implemented by Abna Shanan Contracting Company.
This project aims to end the great suffering of Al-Orouba neighborhood's residents as a result of the absence of a sanitation network and their reliance on cesspits, which had become a great danger to the environment and residents of that area, due to those pits continuously overflowing, leading to the formation of health hazards harmful to the environment and residents, in addition to those pits' continuous collapses, as Al-Orouba neighborhood in Al-Fukhari, east of Khan Younis governorate, was established in 2005, and at that time there was no sanitation system in the governorate.
It is worth noting that, with the construction and operation of the sewage treatment plant east of Khan Younis and the rehabilitation of all the governorate's pumping stations, it will be possible to connect all areas of Khan Younis, particularly the eastern ones, to the sanitation network.
