Beginning Implementation of a Rainwater Line Construction Project in Beit Lahia City

CMWU, in cooperation with Beit Lahia Municipality and funded by Action Against Hunger, began implementing the project to construct a rainwater transmission line in Beit Lahia city, north of the Gaza Strip, aiming to reduce the risks of flooding and eliminate the "Sheikh Zayed" rainwater collection basin in Beit Lahia city, which sustained severe damage as a result of direct bombardment, replacing it with a gravity line with a set of rainwater catch basins and connecting it to the existing line leading to the project's rainwater collection basin, which will also soon be developed to accommodate the quantities of rainwater arriving to it.
This comes as part of the efforts aimed at repairing the damage of the recent Israeli war in May of last year, and strengthening readiness to receive the winter season, in order to protect residents and their property from the risks of rainwater flooding, and it serves more than 20,000 people.
