Completion of the Sanitation Network Project in Al-Seifa Area in Beit Lahia
Gaza – CMWU
CMWU, funded by the State of Japan through Save the Children and in cooperation with Beit Lahia Municipality, implemented a sanitation network project in Al-Seifa area in Beit Lahia city, north of the Gaza Strip, with CMWU, as part of this project, constructing a gravity transmission line from the destroyed station's site reaching Amer pumping station on Al-Rashid Street, 3.7 kilometers long, aiming to eliminate "Al-Seifa" sewage pumping station, which was bombed during the recent war on the Gaza Strip, and convert it into a gravity collection and transmission system, to dispose of the sewage water coming from the neighborhoods served by Al-Seifa station.
It is worth noting that this project will open the way in the future to serving a larger number of residents, since this line passes through areas not connected to the sanitation network, making it possible to connect them to the network after constructing this line.
This project is considered one of the important projects overseen by CMWU, as it aims to protect the environment and the health of the residents of Al-Seifa area from the risks of health hazards, as well as to protect the groundwater aquifer, in addition to saving operating expenses, particularly energy consumption, and eliminating the pumping system and its associated operating costs.
This project serves about 22,000 people, and the project's total value is $450,000.
