Announcement of the Start of the Emirati Desalinated Drinking Water Transmission Line Project to the Mawasi Areas Between Khan Younis and Rafah Governorates
CMWU, in partnership with Operation Al-Fares Al-Shahm 3, and with generous support from the United Arab Emirates, announces the start of implementing the Emirati desalinated water transmission line project from the desalination plant on the Egyptian side to the Gaza Strip, aiming to improve water services and meet the growing needs of the residents of Khan Younis Governorate, including both residents and displaced persons.
The new transmission line extends to the Al-Nas Street area in central Khan Younis Governorate, supplying it with drinking water pumped from the desalination plant previously established by the United Arab Emirates on the Egyptian side, with a production capacity of up to 10,000 cubic meters daily, and this project serves about 600,000 residents and displaced persons in Rafah and Khan Younis Mawasi.
In the same context, Eng. Omar Shatat, CMWU Deputy Executive Director, affirmed that this project represents a strategic step to strengthen water security in the south of the Strip, and directly contributes to easing the suffering of citizens and displaced persons, particularly amid the war and the harsh conditions it has imposed, praising the significant support provided by the United Arab Emirates, which is an extension of its steadfast brotherly stances toward the Palestinian people.
CMWU also extends its deep thanks and gratitude to the United Arab Emirates and the Al-Fares Al-Shahm 3 team for their vital support and continued efforts in enabling service institutions in the Gaza Strip to continue carrying out their humanitarian and developmental tasks.
