Ms. Sigrid Kaag, UN Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza, visited the Gaza Strip, where she visited the Al-Amal basin in Khan Younis. The visit included UNICEF, OCHA, and a number of international and civil society institutions, and was received by the water utility, where Eng. Omar Shatat, Deputy Executive Director, gave a full explanation of the current state of the water sector and the need to strengthen preparedness for the arrival of the winter season, particularly the Al-Amal basin in Khan Younis, and the need to repair the lines leading to the basin, which the Israeli army had caused severe damage to during the military operation in the first quarter of 2024.
