Handover of the water sources improvement project site at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza to the implementing company, including rehabilitating two wells and replacing the water network, funded by Islamic Relief Switzerland.
In preparation for beginning the implementation of the project to improve water sources at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza city, CMWU, Islamic Relief, and the Palestinian Ministry of Health handed over the project's work site to the implementing company "Al-Yarmouk Engineering Company", in order to begin the works of this project, with the project funded by Islamic Relief "Switzerland".
The project includes rehabilitating the northern and southern water wells inside Al-Shifa Hospital, in order to bring them back into service, particularly after they had been out of operation for more than a year and a half, as these wells are considered the main artery supplying the hospital with water. The hospital also relies on the seawater desalination plant north of the Gaza Strip, with CMWU supplying it with 300 m3 of desalinated water per day.
The project also includes replacing the damaged water network in the specialized surgery building inside the Al-Shifa complex.
The project aims to strengthen the water sources and supply the hospital's desalination plant to increase the quantity to 500 cubic meters per day, which is the hospital's current need.
It is worth noting that Al-Shifa Medical Complex is considered the largest medical center and hospital in the Gaza Strip and receives patients from various governorates.
