CMWU, in partnership with UNICEF, installed a desalination plant at the Bait Al-Maqdis School shelter center in Khan Younis (16 cubic meters per day).
In order to secure the drinking water needs of the residents of the Gaza Strip in various displacement and shelter areas, the water utility, in partnership with UNICEF, installed a desalination plant at the Bait Al-Maqdis School shelter center in Khan Younis city, southern Gaza Strip, where this plant serves many displaced families at that center as well as the area's residents.
The water utility's engineering and technical teams installed, operated, calibrated, and tested the advanced, portable, bag-based mobile desalination unit, which has a capacity of 16 cubic meters per day.
It is worth noting that this advanced, unique plant, entering service for the first time in Palestine, is capable of desalinating any type of saline water, even seawater, without the use of chemicals, and operates entirely on solar power.
In the same context, CMWU's technical team carried out maintenance on the desalination plant affiliated with Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis city, as this plant is the main water lifeline for the hospital.
