CMWU, with support from Oxfam, supplied three electric generators to operate nine water wells in Gaza, Jabalia, and Beit Lahia after existing generators deteriorated.
CMWU, with the support of Oxfam, has supplied three power generators to Gaza City, Jabalia, and Beit Lahia under the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) project, with the aim of strengthening operational capacities and ensuring the continuity of water well operations amid ongoing challenges.
The generators have capacities of 110 kVA, 110 kVA, and 65 kVA, and will support the operation of nine water wells across Beit Lahia, Jabalia, and Gaza City, helping to sustain critical water production for affected communities.
This intervention comes at a time when existing generators have deteriorated due to prolonged operational pressure and the continuous power outage since the beginning of the war, with full reliance on generators. Many generators have been destroyed as a result of shelling and military operations, while others have suffered significant damage due to long and continuous operating hours, directly affecting the continuity of water and sanitation services.
This support forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance the resilience of water facilities and respond to the growing needs of residents and displaced populations amid the severe humanitarian conditions facing the Gaza Strip.
