Implementing a Rainwater Drainage Project in Deir al-Balah
Gaza – CMWU
Funded by the German Corporation for Technical Cooperation (GIZ) and implemented by the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) in partnership with Deir al-Balah Municipality, CMWU began implementing a rainwater drainage project by extending lines to collect and drain rainwater around Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital and Al-Aqsa Martyrs Street in Deir al-Balah, with the project aiming to protect residents from the negative effects resulting from rainwater accumulating in the streets.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of this year at a total cost estimated at $336,450, noting that the number of beneficiaries is estimated at about 30,000 people, and this project will also contribute to making use of rainwater by feeding the groundwater aquifer and avoiding the flooding of the surrounding area with rainwater.
