CMWU, in partnership with the Red Cross, restored the pumping system at the Al-Sawarha sanitation station in Al-Zawayda to prevent a recurring health hazard.
Amid a shortage of materials and spare parts, CMWU's technical crews, in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross and Al-Zawayda Municipality, managed to maintain, repair, and effectively restart the pumping system at the Al-Sawarha sewage pumping station affiliated with Al-Zawayda Municipality, central Gaza Strip, aiming to raise the station's efficiency and strengthen its operational readiness, amid current wartime conditions, and in preparation for the arrival of winter, and to prevent the formation of health hazards resulting from sewage overflow in the surrounding residential neighborhoods and displacement gatherings.
It is worth noting that, as a result of the recurring faults at the aforementioned pumping station, a chronic health hazard had formed in the area in previous periods as a result of sewage overflow, which negatively affected the lives and health of residents and displaced persons in the areas neighboring the station.
It is worth noting that the station serves Al-Zawayda Municipality and receives sewage arriving from the various neighborhoods and areas of the town for safe environmental and health disposal, to prevent the formation of health hazards, and also serves part of the neighboring residential neighborhoods in Nuseirat Municipality.
