CMWU crews urgently repaired the transmission line from the seawater desalination plant to west Khan Younis after it was damaged by bombardment; it serves over 600,000 people.
CMWU crews, in cooperation with Khan Younis Municipality, carried out urgent maintenance work on the water transmission line from the seawater desalination plant in southern Gaza Strip to the western areas of Khan Younis Governorate, aiming to restore one of the most important water supply sources for residents and displaced persons.
More than 600,000 residents and displaced persons spread across the various areas of western Khan Younis Mawasi benefit from this line, in addition to the plant serving the entire city of Deir al-Balah.
The line had been struck by air raids in recent days, causing severe damage and cutting off water supplies to wide areas, worsening residents' suffering amid difficult humanitarian conditions.
Despite the difficulty of securing the spare parts and materials needed for repair work as a result of the continued ban on bringing them in through border crossings, the critical humanitarian situation resulting from the line's shutdown required urgent and rapid intervention, with the technical crews using whatever available parts and materials they had to restore this vital artery to operation, easing the suffering of residents and displaced persons after several days without water.
