CMWU received a field trip by Al-Quds University graduate students at the Central Treatment Plant in Al-Bureij.
CMWU received a field trip organized by Al-Quds University "Abu Dis" for a number of graduate students, at the Central Sewage Treatment Plant east of Al-Bureij, central Gaza Strip, where they were received by Eng. Hisham Taha, Acting Director of the Central Treatment Plant, Operations Engineer Mohammed Al-Qeshawi, and the treatment plant's operating technical staff, with this trip coming as part of studying the Sustainable Project Management course.
This trip included a brief explanation of the plant, its management and operation mechanism, its importance, and its great role in improving and preserving the environment, and the trip also included a field tour inside the plant to closely observe its components and the stages of the sewage treatment process.
It is worth noting that this project is considered one of the most important strategic projects implemented in the nation's governorates, as the plant is the largest in Palestine and relies on the latest technology in the treatment process, which mainly relies on generating electric power from the biogas produced by the treatment process, in addition to constructing a renewable energy generation unit via solar cells with a capacity of 3.5 megawatts, which will enable the treatment plant to rely on its own renewable energy sources and thereby limit the effect of the electricity crisis on the continuation of its high-efficiency operation, and contribute to improving the Palestinian environment through the use of alternative, clean energy.
