A Delegation of Notables from Deir al-Balah City Visits Some of CMWU's Projects in the Central Governorate.
Deir al-Balah - A delegation of notables, media professionals, and activists from Deir al-Balah city conducted an inspection tour of some of CMWU's water and sanitation projects, headed by Deir al-Balah Municipality's Mayor Mr. Saeed Nassar, and they were received by Eng. Radwan Abu Kareem, Director of CMWU's regional headquarters in the Central Governorate, Eng. Robin Al-Madhloum, Director of the Supervision Department at the Utility, Eng. Mo'taz Abu Al-Qumbuz, Head of the Supervision Section, and Eng. Mahmoud Al-Hams, Director of the desalination plant in Deir al-Balah.
The tour began with a field visit to the seawater desalination plant in Al-Basa area in Deir al-Balah city, where the visitors learned about the progress of work at the plant, which is considered the product of joint efforts between CMWU and the Palestinian Water Authority, and also learned about the details of the second phase of the project currently underway, as the plant's first phase produces 2,600 cubic meters of desalinated water daily, while the second phase's production capacity, funded by USAID, will reach about 3,400 cubic meters of desalinated water daily, bringing the plant's total production, in both its first and second phases, to 6,000 cubic meters daily.
The delegation also visited Al-Baraka water reservoir project in Deir al-Balah city, central Gaza Strip, designed with a capacity of 5,000 cubic meters, as well as Al-Baraka sewage pumping station, which serves thousands of residents in that area, with the visit also including Al-Qastal water reservoir, with a capacity of 4,000 cubic meters of desalinated water, which will serve residents of the station's area in Deir al-Balah, as the project is in its final stages and will be opened soon.
The field visit aimed to review the progress of work and discuss the service aspects and details of the projects in Deir al-Balah city and their impact on the quality of services provided to Deir al-Balah's residents, with the visiting delegation praising the scale of the great and distinguished achievement in these projects, despite the difficult circumstances the Strip is living through and the great obstacles facing the progress of work, with the visitors also praising the efficiency and level of the field crews and the bodies supervising the projects on behalf of CMWU and Deir al-Balah Municipality, thanking them for their keenness and tireless, distinguished efforts in serving residents, particularly in Deir al-Balah city, wishing for the continuation of joint cooperation between the Utility and the Municipality for the good and progress of their area.
