A delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross reviewed the project to rent four private water wells supplying Khan Younis and Rafah Mawasi with 2,000 cubic meters daily since March 2024.
CMWU, through a field tour, briefed Mr. Alexander, Deputy Head of the Water and Habitat Unit at the International Committee of the Red Cross, and his accompanying delegation, on the mechanism of operating and pumping water in the project to rent four private water wells, aiming to supply residents and displacement camps located in the Khan Younis and Rafah Mawasi area with usable water, at a rate of 2,000 cubic meters daily. They were briefed on the mechanism of water production from the wells, operation and pumping mechanisms, and quality monitoring and disinfection. The delegation also toured the Mawasi area to review the filling points and connections used by displaced persons and residents, as well as the areas needing increased pumping. It is worth noting that these wells have been rented and put into service since March 2024, which has had an effective impact in easing the water supply crisis for tens of thousands of displaced persons and residents living in the western areas of both Khan Younis and Rafah.
