Transporting accumulated sludge from Al-Bureij treatment plant to the landfill to ease the odors surrounding the plant.
CMWU began transporting the sludge resulting from the treatment process at the Central Sewage Treatment Plant east of Al-Bureij, which had accumulated during the recent aggression on the Gaza Strip, to the solid waste landfill east of the Juhr Al-Deek area, in order to reduce the emission of some odors affecting the area surrounding the plant.
It is worth noting that CMWU began the trial operation phase of that plant at the beginning of this year, and this project is considered one of the most important strategic projects implemented in the nation's governorates, as the plant is the largest in Palestine and relies on the latest technology in the treatment process, which mainly relies on generating electric power from the biogas produced by the treatment process, in addition to constructing a renewable energy generation unit via solar cells with a capacity of 3.5 megawatts, which will enable the treatment plant to rely on its own renewable energy sources and thereby limit the effect of the electricity crisis on the continuation of its high-efficiency operation, and contribute to improving the Palestinian environment through the use of alternative, clean energy.
