CMWU Supplies Workers at the Gaza Strip's Municipalities with Disinfection Materials and Personal Protective Equipment Against the Coronavirus

As part of the emergency repair and maintenance project linked to combating the coronavirus, implemented by CMWU in cooperation with the German development organization GIZ, CMWU supplied all workers in the water and sanitation sector affiliated with CMWU and the municipalities of the Gaza Strip with disinfection materials and personal protective equipment against the coronavirus, aiming to protect them from the risks of the pandemic's spread and enable them to work safely amid the pandemic.
This comes in the context of the project to support residents' stability in the Gaza Strip funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The €1 million project aims to enable CMWU to provide a minimum level of water and sanitation services amid the continuing spread of the coronavirus pandemic, by carrying out emergency repair and maintenance works for various water and sanitation facilities.
This project includes supplying spare parts to maintain water and sanitation facilities and carrying out maintenance and rehabilitation works for 20 water wells and 10 sewage pumping stations, and maintaining electric power generators for various water and sanitation facilities in areas of the Gaza Strip, in addition to supplying chlorine solution for 6 months for use in disinfecting the water pumped into the distribution networks and chemicals for desalination plants, and the agreement also includes supplying materials and protective equipment against the coronavirus, in addition to implementing training programs for workers in the water and sanitation sector to enable them to work amid the coronavirus pandemic, as well as awareness programs for coronavirus prevention.
The Coastal Municipalities Water Utility has provided workers in the water and wastewater sector in the Gaza Strip with sterilization materials and personal protection tools to prevent Coronavirus and enable them to work under a safe environment.
This comes within the framework of the emergency repair and maintenance project related to fighting the Coronavirus, which is implemented by the Coastal Municipalities Water Utility upon an agreement signed with the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
