CMWU Launches an Emergency Project to Support Water and Sanitation Services, Funded by the International Committee of the Red Cross
CMWU, funded by the International Committee of the Red Cross and in cooperation with the Strip's municipalities, launched an emergency project aimed at supporting urgent maintenance work on water and sanitation networks and facilities in a number of areas of the Gaza Strip.
The project includes providing heavy machinery, labor, and technical staff, enabling CMWU's and the municipalities' crews to respond quickly to the faults and damage sustained by infrastructure, contributing to the continuity of water and sanitation service delivery at the minimum possible level, given the major challenges facing the sector.
The project's works include carrying out maintenance and repair of water networks and sanitation lines, alongside preventive interventions to protect shelter centers from the risks of rainwater accumulation and flooding, and reducing their health and environmental impact on residents.
The project covers the areas of Jabalia city, Beit Lahia, Gaza City, in addition to the Central Governorate and Khan Younis city, targeting service to residents and displaced persons, easing their suffering, and ensuring the provision of a minimum level of water and sanitation services given the current humanitarian situation.
This intervention is part of a series of emergency projects implemented by the Utility in cooperation with its partners, which contribute to strengthening its ability to continue providing its vital services and ensuring their continuity as much as possible.
