CMWU Takes a Set of Precautionary Measures and Raises the Readiness of Its Working Crews to Confront the Weather Depression
CMWU - Gaza
CMWU has taken a set of precautionary measures to confront the weather depression reaching the governorates of the Gaza Strip, seeking to protect residents and their properties and reduce the occurrence of damage due to the continuous rainfall expected with the arrival of the weather depression to Gaza's governorates.
The Utility's crews and emergency teams working in various areas have continued their preparations, which they began at the start of the winter season, the most prominent of which were the following:
1. Cleaning rainwater collection basins and preparing them to absorb large quantities of rainwater.
2. Cleaning pump basins and rooms in various areas, especially the Al-Jineina, Jemeza Al-Sabeel, and Tal Al-Sultan stations in Rafah.
3. Supplying the fuel necessary to operate the plants and maintain their continuous operation without interruption under all circumstances.
4. Carrying out preventive maintenance for sewage pumps, such as changing oils and spare parts to raise the efficiency of the working pumping units.
5. Carrying out periodic preventive maintenance for the generators of sewage and rainwater plants, including changing oils and filters.
6. Cleaning rainwater filters of debris and sediment to ensure the smooth flow of rainwater through them and prevent its accumulation.
7. Installing mobile pumps to strengthen the pumping system at both the Jemeza Al-Sabeel station and the (Al-Najili) rainwater station in Rafah.
8. Working to connect the Al-Jineina pumping station, designated for rainwater, in Rafah to the public electricity grid and preparing it to automatically pump rainwater as soon as it arrives at the collection basin.
9. Following up on carrying out daily works of maintenance and cleaning for sewage networks, and treating and pumping any accumulated quantities of rainwater in areas not served by sewage and rainwater networks.
10. Preparing and maintaining three jetting trucks for cleaning sewage networks and one suction truck.
In the same context, the Utility, in cooperation with all the Gaza Strip's municipalities, carried out several works and preparations, including cleaning sewage pumping stations and supplying the municipalities with new mobile pumps along with maintaining the old pumps and distributing protective clothing according to each municipality's needs, and the Utility also distributed various quantities of diesel to the municipalities for operating sewage plants, rainwater collection plants, and mobile pumps.
As CMWU affirms that it has taken all measures within the available capabilities, it calls on residents to follow the instructions regarding emergencies in a way that protects their lives and properties and eases the severity of problems should they occur, and wishes safety for residents in all governorates of the Gaza Strip.
