Receiving the Water Well and Desalination Plant Project in the Wadi Gaza Area

CMWU, in cooperation with the Cooperative Association and Wadi Gaza Municipality, and funded by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development managed by the Islamic Development Bank, preliminarily received the water well and desalination plant project in the Wadi Gaza area on 13-4-2015, with the project's value reaching about $245,000.
Wadi Gaza Municipality, in cooperation with CMWU, is scheduled to begin operating the water well and desalination plant, benefiting the area's residents, numbering 5,000, sufficiently to meet their daily needs and improve water services in the area.
This project included drilling a water well with a production capacity of 60 cubic meters per hour, and installing a desalination unit on the well to produce desalinated water suitable for drinking with a production capacity of 50 cubic meters per day, with the project's works having begun since the beginning of September 2014.
This project came due to the area's poverty in water, as the Wadi Gaza area is considered one of the agricultural areas that need more than one source of water supply, with its residents relying on only one well for household use and drinking.
Thus, this project will increase the quantity of water produced in that area and will contribute to improving the water services provided to the residents of the village, which suffers from water scarcity.
