Gaza - CMWU received at its main headquarters a delegation from the Environmental Quality Authority, headed by Eng. Adala Al-Atira, Chairwoman of the Environmental Quality Authority, with this visit aiming to review the current water situation in the Gaza Strip, given its close impact and connection to the environmental situation, and to closely learn about the efforts made by CMWU, and the most prominent projects and services it provides to residents, as well as the most prominent obstacles it faces amid the worsening water and environmental crisis in the Strip.
The delegation was received by Dr. Majed Awni Abu Ramadan, Chairman of CMWU's Board of Directors, Eng. Monther Issa Shoblaq, the Utility's Director-General, and Eng. Maher Al-Najjar, Deputy Director-General of the Utility, with Dr. Abu Ramadan welcoming Ms. Al-Atira and her accompanying delegation, and praising the importance of this visit and the great keenness it represents from the Environmental Quality Authority on the continuation of joint cooperation, expressing his great appreciation for this interest in reviewing CMWU's efforts and projects, which have had a positive and prominent impact on improving the services provided to residents, and the attempt to overcome the current water and environmental crisis in the Gaza Strip, through the qualitative projects that CMWU supervised the implementation of in the fields of water and sanitation.
In turn, Eng. Monther Shoblaq affirmed his great appreciation for Ms. Al-Atira's visit and her accompanying delegation, praising the great cooperation and distinguished partnership between the Utility and the Environmental Quality Authority over many years, through numerous projects and efforts that would benefit numerous aspects of residents' lives in the Gaza Strip, particularly the environmental aspect, which is considered one of the most prominent fields connected to the water and sanitation field.
After the delegation finished visiting the Utility's main headquarters, the delegation, accompanied by Eng. Maher Al-Najjar, Deputy Director-General of the Utility, conducted a field visit to the seawater desalination plant in Deir al-Balah city, central Gaza Strip, as well as the seawater desalination plant for the southern governorates, in order to learn about the details of these two vital projects and their importance to residents, as one of the most prominent projects implemented by CMWU across the Gaza Strip's governorates.
In turn, Ms. Al-Atira praised CMWU's prominent role in the field of water and sanitation services in the Gaza Strip, and the achievements made in numerous qualitative projects, affirming the Environmental Quality Authority's keenness on continuing and intensifying joint cooperation and coordination with CMWU in the coming stage, aiming to improve the quality of services provided to residents in the environmental and water fields.
