CMWU Receives a Delegation from the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs
CMWU received a delegation from the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by Ms. Pirkko Kiuru, Ambassador at the Finnish Representative Office to the Palestinian National Authority, who arrived in the Gaza Strip with her accompanying delegation this morning, on a one-day visit.
The delegation was received by Eng. Monther Shoblaq, CMWU's Director-General, Eng. Maher Al-Najjar, Deputy Director-General for Planning and Projects, and Eng. Omar Shatat, Deputy Director-General for Technical Affairs, with the delegation received at the seawater desalination plant south of the Strip.
This visit aims to review the water and sanitation situation in the Gaza Strip and learn about the most prominent efforts made by the Utility to improve the quality of the service provided to residents.
After visiting the seawater desalination plant south of the Strip, the delegation completed its field visit to some of the Utility's projects, including Al-Aqsa reservoir in Deir al-Balah city, central Gaza Strip, with the tour concluding with a visit to the Utility's main headquarters in Al-Zahra city and its central laboratory.
In turn, Eng. Monther Shoblaq reviewed the water situation in the Gaza Strip and the challenges it faces, as well as the most prominent achievements of the Utility in cooperation with numerous donor and supporting bodies for the water and sanitation sector, explaining the scale of the contribution the Utility provides in developing this important and sensitive sector, which affects residents' daily needs.
Shoblaq praised the delegation's visit, expressing his hope for the continuation and increase of international interest in the current situation in the Gaza Strip, and everyone's contribution to reaching better efficiency in providing water and sanitation services to residents.
At the end of the visit, Her Excellency Ambassador Kiuru affirmed her happiness at visiting CMWU, and her great admiration for the projects it presented, and her appreciation for its efforts made to improve the water and sanitation situation despite the difficult circumstances the Gaza Strip is suffering from, wishing the Utility further development and progress.
