CMWU's Executive Director Eng. Monther Shoblaq received the UN Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Mr. Jamie McGoldrick, during his visit and that of the UNICEF team to the Southern Desalination Plant.

During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the measures and needs for supplying the residents of the central and southern governorates and the displaced persons who have arrived there, whose numbers have reached more than 1.8 million people, and the challenges facing the water utility and municipalities in continuing to provide water and sanitation services, the latest of which was the targeting of CMWU's main warehouses west of Khan Younis and its severe impact on the continuation of emergency maintenance work amid the continuing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
