CMWU, in partnership with the Red Cross, repaired the Al-Safa well in Rafah (50 cubic meters per hour), feeding the Al-Zohour reservoir and serving about 80,000 people.
CMWU Repairs and Operates the Al-Safa Water Well in Rafah
CMWU, in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross, completed repair and operation works on the Al-Safa water well in Rafah city, one of the main sources of water supply in the area.
The well produces 50 cubic meters of water per hour, and feeds the main Al-Zohour reservoir, which in turn supplies the northeastern area of the city, whose population is estimated at about 70,000 people.
The well also contributes to pumping water directly into the network, strengthening water access to neighboring neighborhoods, such as the Al-Zohour, Musabbih, and Al-Za'arba areas, inhabited by about 10,000 people.
This project is part of joint efforts to gradually improve water services and ensure they reach the residents of Rafah city, particularly after the significant damage sustained by water and sanitation facilities as a result of Israeli military operations.
