CMWU Joins Tal Al-Rabee Secondary School in Its World Water Day Celebration

The Media and Public Awareness Department at CMWU participated in the celebration organized by Tal Al-Rabee Secondary School in Beit Lahia on the occasion of World Water Day, in the presence of Mr. Mahmoud Abu Hasira, Director of Education in the northern Gaza area.
The school's principal, Ms. Nazmiya Al-Louqa, welcomed the attendees, pointing to her school's interest in marking World Water Day and shedding light on the importance of water, affirming that her school, represented by the teaching staff and the students of the health committee and the environmental club at the school, shows continuous keenness throughout the year to raise students' awareness and education on rationalizing water and electricity consumption and following up on students' behavior and directing them towards proper conduct.
CMWU's speech was delivered by Ms. Suhair Al-Bayoumi, public awareness officer, who began her remarks by thanking the school's administration for inviting the Utility to participate in the celebration's activities and the efforts made by the school in raising students' awareness on water topics, hoping that all schools would follow their example.
Al-Bayoumi affirmed CMWU's interest in providing awareness programs on water issues to all groups and different segments of residents in the Gaza Strip through various programs suited to all groups, especially children and school students, the leaders and makers of the future.
In her remarks, Al-Bayoumi reviewed the problems the water sector suffers from in the Gaza Strip in terms of salinity and quantity shortages, in addition to electricity outages and the difficulty of providing the fuel necessary to operate water facilities and continue providing water services, and noted the projects implemented by CMWU in all governorates to provide appropriate quantities of water for residents, and affirmed that the concerned bodies are making their utmost efforts in this field and that consumer residents have a duty to bear responsibility and participate in preserving the water that reaches them by rationalizing water consumption and protecting it from pollution, each in their own field: the worker and employee at their workplace, the housewife in her home, the farmer on his farm, and the student at their school.
The students of the health committee and the environmental club presented several awareness segments urging the conservation of water and rationalizing its consumption, through a song and a theatrical segment in which the students highlighted the importance of water and residents' improper behaviors in water consumption, and an exhibition of drawings produced by the school's students.
At the end of the celebration, Mr. Mahmoud Abu Hasira, Director of Education in the northern Gaza area, extended a word of thanks to the teaching staff and students for their efforts in providing awareness to students, especially in the field of water, which is the basis of life, and that everyone must cooperate to protect our water from waste and pollution.
