CMWU Participates in a Study Day on the Need for a Sewage Network in East Khan Younis Area.
Khan Younis – CMWU participated in the study day discussing the need for a sewage network for the villages of the area east of Khan Younis governorate, held by the Hakawi Society for Culture and Arts, supported by the Culture, Arts, and Community Participation project, and funded by the Abdul Mohsin Al-Qattan Foundation and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
CMWU was represented at the study day by engineers from the Utility's Planning Department, Eng. Mo'taz Abu Al-Qumbuz and Eng. Hana' Awad, with Abu Al-Qumbuz presenting a working paper on the reality of sanitation in the governorate and a detailed explanation of the sewage treatment plant currently being implemented east of the governorate, the phases of covering the eastern villages with the sewage system, and the timeline for constructing this system.
In turn, Abu Al-Qumbuz explained, during his presentation, some of the efforts and projects implemented and supervised by CMWU, as well as the challenges facing work in the field of sanitation in the Gaza Strip and the difficulties facing the Utility's work, and ways to confront these challenges and turn them into achievements on the ground, as well as the Utility's efforts related to completing sewage treatment projects in Khan Younis governorate in particular.
Eng. Abu Al-Qumbuz also gave a comprehensive explanation of the new sanitation system in the eastern areas of Khan Younis governorate, affirming the Utility's great keenness and special attention it gives to this area, given the urgent need to develop the sewage networks there, noting that once the construction of the sewage treatment plant east of the governorate is completed, this will greatly improve the sanitation services provided to residents living in the area east of Khan Younis, with efforts continuing at the fastest possible pace to complete this strategic and qualitative project, which will have a significant impact on solving the sanitation problem for residents in a large and effective manner.
