CMWU Participates in a Workshop at Cairo Water Week 2025
CMWU participated in a workshop titled Strengthening Resilience Through Strategic Investments in the Water Sector in Palestine, as part of the Cairo Water Week 2025 conference, with the participation of a select group of experts, representatives of international donor institutions and relevant UN agencies, alongside broad attendance from actors in the water sector at the regional and international levels.
This came in the presence of CMWU Executive Director Eng. Munther Shublaq, his deputy for engineering and planning affairs Eng. Maher Al-Najjar, and Deputy Executive Director for Administrative and Financial Affairs Mr. Mamdouh Al-Ghazali.
The workshop was attended by Dr. Hani Sewilam, Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, and Dr. Ziad Al-Maimi, Chairman of the Palestinian Water Authority (via video link), alongside representatives of prominent international institutions such as the Dutch Mission, UNICEF, and the World Water Council.
The workshop addressed ways to strengthen the resilience of the Palestinian water sector through strategic, sustainable investments, and mechanisms for cooperation between local and international institutions to face the current challenges facing this vital sector.
CMWU's participation comes as part of its keenness to strengthen regional and international partnerships, aiming to contribute to financing the various phases of the water sector's emergency intervention, recovery, and reconstruction plan for the Gaza Strip, which was developed by the Palestinian Water Authority, CMWU, and international partners, in addition to exchanging expertise on sustainable solutions to ensure the continuity of water and sanitation services amid difficult conditions.
