The works of the first phase of the rainwater pond rehabilitation project in Al-Amal neighborhood, Khan Younis, are underway, with about 60% of this phase's works completed, expected to be finished during January 2016.
The construction works for the pump room and the laying of the 60 cm diameter pressure line from the Al-Amal rainwater pumping station to the pressure-breaking manhole have been completed, as has the laying of the 80 cm diameter concrete gravity line connecting the pressure-breaking manhole to the filtration basin near the treatment basins.
The pumps, with a capacity of 2,700 cubic meters/hour, are expected to be supplied and installed along with the necessary electrical works during January 2016 to complete the first phase's works, as they have not yet been allowed entry by the Israeli side.
