CMWU Begins Implementing a Project to Maintain and Repair Water and Sanitation Networks in Rafah Funded by Oxfam
CMWU, funded by Oxfam, began implementing a project to maintain and repair a number of water and sanitation networks in Rafah Governorate, particularly in the areas to which residents have returned following the Israeli withdrawal from the governorate.
In this context, repair works began today on the main 630mm-diameter sanitation line on Taha Hussein Street, which is a vital artery linking the Al-Junaina and Jumaiza Al-Sabeel sewage pumping stations. This repair aims to address the serious health hazard in the Al-Junaina neighborhood, and improve the damaged infrastructure.
The project will cover, in the coming days, several other areas as part of efforts to gradually restore water and sanitation services to the governorate, which sustained severe damage as a result of the recent military operations.
CMWU, in cooperation with the Palestinian Water Authority and with support from international partners and donors, affirms its commitment to continuing work to repair infrastructure and ensure essential services reach residents.
