CMWU and Rafah Municipality on an Inspection Tour of a Number of Rainwater Collection and Drainage Facilities in Rafah Governorate

Rafah Municipality's Mayor "CMWU's Board member" Dr. Anwar Al-Shaer conducted a field tour during which he visited a number of rainwater collection and drainage facilities in Rafah governorate, accompanied on this tour by Dr. Eng. Mohammed Al-Abwaini, Director of CMWU's Rafah headquarters, Eng. Hassan Al-Shaer, and Eng. Fareed Sha'ban, with this visit aiming to follow up on the winter season preparations being carried out by CMWU's teams for rainwater drainage facilities and the extent of those facilities' readiness to receive the rainy season.
The tour included a visit to the rainwater collection basin in Al-Jineina neighborhood and Al-Nujaili basin, in addition to the rainwater collection basin recently constructed in the western Rafah area, with these facilities having been constructed and rehabilitated with funding from the Office of the UN Special Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs "OCHA" through the Norwegian Refugee Council "NRC".
In turn, Eng. Mohammed Al-Abwaini affirmed that CMWU will exert every effort to continue completing the projects and preparations related to the rainwater collection and drainage system, aiming to strengthen that system in order to make the most of rainwater and protect residents from the risks of flooding during the winter season.
In turn, Dr. Anwar Al-Shaer highly praised CMWU's diligent efforts to continue providing water and sanitation services to the residents of Rafah city, in addition to its preparations for the winter season, particularly amid the difficult circumstances the Gaza Strip is going through.
