CMWU Appeals to the International Community to Protect the Strip's Water and Sanitation Facilities from Repeated Targeting

CMWU appealed to the international community and all international institutions, particularly humanitarian ones, to protect water and sanitation facilities in the Gaza Strip from Israeli attacks, as a number of these facilities have recently been subjected to Israeli aircraft shelling, the latest of which was one of CMWU's water wells west of the city, which supplies residents of the Saudi neighborhood in Rafah, with this well being the second to be subjected to Israeli aircraft shelling in the past few days.
In turn, CMWU's Director-General Eng. Monther Shoblaq said that the continuation of Israeli aircraft shelling of water wells would expose the Strip to a humanitarian catastrophe and would limit and reduce the services provided by the Utility to residents, particularly in the field of water, noting that the last well targeted, west of Rafah city in the Saudi neighborhood, produces 60 cubic meters per hour and serves about 30,000 residents in that area, and this targeting is the second in a short period after the shelling of a water well in Deir al-Balah city.
Eng. Shoblaq condemned the Israeli aircraft's shelling of water wells, since these wells have clear coordinates that are provided to the Israeli side through the international institutions operating in the Strip to avoid harming these facilities and preserve them in times of crisis.
