CMWU preliminarily received a sanitation network project in Al-Suwaidiya village in Rafah funded by Jordan, serving 1,000 people.
CMWU carried out the preliminary handover of the project to construct a sanitation network in Al-Suwaidiya village, Rafah governorate, south of the Gaza Strip, in the presence of representatives from the Arab Organization for the Reconstruction of Palestine and the project's implementing company "Abu Shammala and Abu Dan".
The project included constructing sewage collection networks and a pumping station, and a transmission line to pump water to the treatment plant in Rafah city, contributing to creating a safe and healthy environment in the village, and reducing the pumping of sewage water into the sea. The project serves about 1,000 people, and its implementation value is about $450,000.
This project is funded by the Higher Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza in Palestine – Jordan, in coordination with the Palestinian Water Authority, and implemented and supervised by the Arab International Organization for the Reconstruction of Palestine.
It is worth noting that this project came in response to the appeals of the residents of Al-Suwaidiya village, southwest of Rafah city, who suffered for many years from serious environmental, health, and social problems, which affected the lives of children, women, and the elderly, as a result of the absence of a sanitation network and the spread of random cesspits, which led to sewage flowing between houses, hindering movement and mobility, and necessitating the direct pumping of sewage water into the sea.
