CMWU Completes a Sewage Network Transmission Lines Project in Khan Younis.
Khan Younis - CMWU, in cooperation with Khan Younis Municipality, finished implementing the project to construct a pressure line from Al-Wafiya pumping station to the temporary treatment plant, with the project including constructing a 3-kilometer line from Al-Wafiya sewage pumping station to pump sewage water from the station, collected from areas of Khan Younis city, to the temporary treatment plant.
The completed work also includes finishing the project to transfer treated water from the plant's outlet to the sea, over a length of 2.5 kilometers, with this project coming as a result of the cumulative increase in connecting residents to the sewage network, and the inability of the old infrastructure to absorb these large quantities of sewage water.
This project comes as part of the general policy of separating the sewage system from the rainwater drainage system, with the line leading to the rainwater drainage culvert connected to the Al-Amal rainwater filtration basin also closed, as this line used to be used in emergency situations.
The number of beneficiaries from the project is about 140,000 people, and the project's total cost is $1 million, funded by the International Committee of the Red Cross.
