Beginning Implementation of a Rainwater Project in Al-Shuja'iyya Neighborhood in Gaza City
Gaza – CMWU
Funded by Anera and in partnership with Gaza Municipality, CMWU began implementing a rainwater drainage project in Al-Shuja'iyya neighborhood in Gaza city, with the project including constructing a rainwater drainage line extending from Al-Mansoura Street to Al-Muntar Street, in order to collect rainwater accumulating at the beginning of Al-Muntar Street and drain it into the existing network, then filter it into the groundwater aquifer through the "Asqoula" rainwater collection basin. The project's value is $160,000 and it serves about 50,000 people.
This project aims to protect residents and their property from the risks of rainwater flooding during the rainy weather depressions of the winter season, by strengthening the rainwater drainage system.
