Completing the Rehabilitation of the "Al-Jineina" Sewage Pumping Station in Rafah
Gaza - CMWU
CMWU has completed rehabilitating the "Al-Jineina" sewage pumping station in Rafah city, south of the Gaza Strip, with the aim of strengthening its ability to work during peak hours, especially with the onset of winter, with the project including a complete rehabilitation of all the station's pumps, funded by the European Union - Humanitarian Aid (ECHO) through Action Against Hunger.
It is worth noting that the Al-Jineina neighborhood station is the only main station in the eastern area of Rafah, serving residents in the Al-Brazil, Al-Salam, Khirbet Al-Adas, Al-Jineina, Al-Mashrou', and Al-Shawka areas, Qashta neighborhood, and some neighborhoods in the center of the city, numbering about 100,000 residents.
Throughout the year, CMWU, funded by international and relief institutions working in the water and sanitation sector, maintains and rehabilitates numerous sewage pumping stations in various areas of the Gaza Strip, with the aim of improving the level of readiness at those stations, and ensuring they do not stop working and preventing the formation of health hazards, especially in the rainy season.
