Works to expand the seawater desalination plant south of Gaza to raise its production to 20,000 m3 daily, despite restrictions on supplying needed materials, to serve about 250,000 people.
A glimpse of the works of the project to expand the seawater desalination plant south of the Gaza Strip, with work underway to expand it to reach a production capacity of 20,000 cubic meters/day, to become capable of serving wide areas of Khan Younis and Rafah governorates, funded by the European Union through UNICEF, in cooperation with the Palestinian Water Authority and CMWU.
It is worth noting that, despite the difficult conditions the Gaza Strip is experiencing, the continuous closure of the crossings, and the numerous restrictions facing the process of supplying the materials needed for the project, efforts continue and work is proceeding at full speed to complete this large, vital project, which will improve the quality and quantity of water provided to thousands of residents in the targeted areas of the southern governorates of the Gaza Strip, numbering about 250,000 people.
