CMWU, funded by the Red Cross, restored the central Al-Sa'ada desalination plant in Khan Younis (25 cubic meters per hour) to operation after it was destroyed.
As a continuation of its efforts aimed at restoring the operation of the water pumping system and operating desalination plants in Khan Younis city, CMWU, in partnership with and funded by the International Committee of the Red Cross and in cooperation with Khan Younis Municipality, repaired and operated the central Al-Sa'ada desalination plant in central Khan Younis city, southern Gaza Strip, and put it back into service, after the Israeli occupation destroyed the plant during the ground operation on Khan Younis Governorate.
The Al-Sa'ada desalination plant produces desalinated water with a capacity of 25 cubic meters/hour, and serves wide areas in Khan Younis camp and Al-Balad, as well as the shelter schools surrounding the plant.
It is worth noting that the water utility is making intensive and tireless efforts to maintain many wells and water sources, in addition to water and sanitation networks in Khan Younis city, as well as all areas and governorates of the Strip, in cooperation with the Strip's municipalities and local and international institutions.
