CompletedAl-Qalaa Central Water Well Construction Project in Central Khan Younis
CMWU has completed the drilling and construction of the Al-Qalaa Central Water Well in the center of Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip, funded by UNICEF and implemented in cooperation with Khan Younis Municipality. This intervention is part of CMWU’s efforts to strengthen water resources and improve the capacity of the water supply system to meet the growing needs of the population.
CompletedCleaning and Rehabilitation Project for the Sheikh Ajleen Wastewater Treatment Plant in Gaza City
The works were carried out as a preliminary step toward restoring the plant’s operation. They included removing accumulated sediment, sludge, and sand from treatment ponds and channels, pumping stagnant water, clearing vegetation and debris, and transporting waste to environmentally approved disposal sites. The works also included repairing concrete ponds, addressing cracks and damage, and servicing and lubricating control gates to ensure their readiness for operation.
CompletedMaintenance and Rehabilitation Project for the Southern UNRWA Water Well in Khan Younis City
CMWU, in cooperation with Khan Younis Municipality, with support from UNICEF and in partnership with Oxfam, carried out maintenance and rehabilitation works on the Southern UNRWA Water Well in Khan Younis City, fully restoring it to service. The well is a key source of water supply for the western area of Khan Younis City, serving more than 20,000 residents.
CompletedInstallation of 5-Cubic-Meter Flexible Water Tanks in Shelters and Underserved Communities Across the Gaza Strip
The installation covered shelters and residential areas across Deir Al-Balah, Nuseirat, Al-Zawaida, Khan Younis, Gaza City, and northern Gaza. The project aims to improve access to safe drinking water for displaced people and residents through regular refilling of the tanks by CMWU desalinated water tankers.
CompletedExpansion of the Southern Gaza Seawater Desalination Plant
Expansion and Development Project of the Southern Gaza Seawater Desalination Plant, increasing its production capacity to 20,000 cubic meters per day, enabling it to serve approximately 250,000 residents across large areas of Khan Younis and Rafah. The project is funded by the European Union through UNICEF, in cooperation with CMWU and the Palestinian Water Authority (PWA).
