CMWU Continues Cleaning and Widening Wadi Al-Qashash to Prepare for the Winter Season
CMWU, in cooperation with Al-Nuseirat Municipality and with support from the ICRC, continues to clean and widen Wadi Al-Qashash by removing sediment, debris, and sand accumulations. The works are being carried out under a project involving the rental of machinery and the provision of labor and technical personnel, as part of ongoing preparations for the winter season and efforts to reduce the risks of stormwater accumulation and flooding.
The works include cleaning and widening the watercourse, rehabilitating its channel, removing accumulated sediment and debris, and clearing the culverts along the watercourse. These interventions will help increase the channel’s capacity to accommodate stormwater and facilitate its safe flow.
The interventions aim to improve the drainage of stormwater flowing from Block C, reduce the likelihood of rising water levels and flooding, and prevent water from inundating nearby homes and tents. This will help protect residents and their property while reducing potential health and environmental risks during the winter season.
